Murder suspect Jeffery Okafor arrested in Nigeria 5 years after escaping from UK

According to reports , Jeffrey Okafor who was declared wanted in the UK for the murder of a 19 year old rapper, Carl Beatson Asiedu, has been arrested in Nigeria. He was arrested on Tuesday September 23 and will be extradited to the UK to face trial for the murder of Asiedu who was stabbed in the heart right outside Vauxhall’s Club Night night club on August 1, 2009.

Asiedu aka Charmz, had been performing at the club the night he was killed. While rushing him to the hospital, a friend of Asiedu's was stopped for disobeying the traffic light, and the body was found in the back of the car. It was gathered that the UK Guardian Officers identified Okafor as a suspect after spotting him on the club’s CCTV.

After it became apparent that he had fled the UK using his brother's name and passport, his mother LynnKanebi and his brother's girlfriend Nicola Rushworth were made to stand trial in August 2010, for allegedly helping him flee the UK. However, Jeffery Okafor's younger brother, Junior pleaded guilty to helping him flee justice and his mother and girlfriend were left off the hook.

A friend of the deceased, Peter Lama who was stabbed in the back that same night, survived the attack and in May 2011, three men who were at the night club the night Asiedu was killed were found guilty of violent disorder.
