8 cool things from the ’90s we can’t ever forget (Photos)
The ’90s were a very interesting time and for many of us who belong to the Y generation, we were privileged to have an era of fun and intrigue.
The decade gave us a lot of memorable things.
When we look back, a feeling of nostalgia rushes through and it is hard to believe that its been fifteen years since then.
To give you a dose of this feeling, we’ve put together a list of accessories/fads/things from the ’90s we can’t forget:
1. Walkman
Every kid in the neighbourhood had or wanted one. They were fun, colourful and made you feel like a million bucks. They were also a symbol for the hip cool kid. A Walkman with a bunch of casettes was the go-to portable entertainment accessory for many kids in the 90s.
2. Kito Sandals
These footwear were the ultimate unisex item every boy and girl wanted to have. If you didn’t own a pair, you likely missed out on a very interesting fad.
3. Durags/Bandanas
These head-wears that we copied from music videos of LL Cool J, R Kelly and Nelly- were the epitome of cool in the ’90s. They came in various colours and as for the bandanas they had very distinct Paisley prints on them. If you were going to a party, you just had to rock one.
4. Computer socks
They had a very unique look to them and were the most common choice of socks for most of us in the ’90s. The combination of Computer socks and Kito Sandals was the Holy grail of those days.
5. 501 Belt
Both Primary and secondary school pupils wore these and it did the job excellently. Well, until your senior removes his to “teach you a lesson” then it was no longer cute.
6. Okin Biscuit
Technically this is not an accessory but at the rate ’90s kids consumed those sugary treats, they belong on this list. You stashed them in your pockets or school bag if you understand life. Okin Biscuit were a favourite among many kids during after-school lessons.
7. Dungarees
Dungarees were worn with usually T-shirts, but some decided to go the extra mile and wear them with long sleeved button up shirts. They required no belt and frankly I never saw anyone wearing one that was their actual size.
8. Choker
If you were a girl in the ’90s and you didn’t wear a choker, I don’t know what your priorities were to be honest. They came in various zig zag shapes and were mostly black.
