Since Saturday, August 8, 2015 when star actress, Tonto Dikeh kicked off her wedding rites in a ceremony held in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, the media have been awashed with mixed reactions from her fans and critics.

Following that introduction ceremony, Tonto Dikeh has changed her name to Mrs Tonto Wigo Dikeh-Churchill, being that her husband the CEO of Big Churchill Haven Limited and Big Church Entertainment in Ikoyi, Lagos, bears the name Oladunni Churchill.

Tonto Dikeh who took to her Instagram in series of mind-boggling posts explained issues relating to her pre-nuptials:

When word of Tiwa Savage’s engagement to her manager, Tunji Balogun aka Tee Billz got out back in February, not a few people were surprised at the development.

For starters, the pair had on more than one occasion, denied the fact that they were even dating at all. Also, asides the fact that Tee Billz was Tiwa’s manager, very little was known about the groom-to-be. “My agency handles some of British American Tobacco brands and P’Square was doing a show for us at one of our events in Enugu. Though I had met Peter a couple of times before then, at the show there was some chemistry.

He asked for my number and I refused giving it to him. I told him ‘if you really want to know me, you have to find my number’. So he took it as a task and found my number and the rest is history.” Lola, said to be in her 30s then and Peter in his 20s, was not disturbed by the age difference. Her reason:

“Like I said, Peter is an old soul and he always tells me that I’m like a 23-year-old. Age is just a number. Right now, you can see it around the world. Demi Moore, Usher and some known people. Even in Nigeria here, they are dating people far older than their age. So, we shouldn’t base it on the age factor. He doesn’t make me feel like he’s younger than me.”

How They Met

Annie first met 2face Idibia at Even Ezra Music Studio when she was just fifteen and in her words, “I think there was some electricity that second”.

They were friends first but had started dating officially by the time they shot the “African Queen” video in 2004. That was when 2Face announced that they were together during an interview. Mehn, they don tey oh…

I remember my 16th birthday at Alpha Beach, with me and my friends. When we were going home, we all walked to the bus stop with him and his cousin. Plantashun Boiz had just recorded “Knock Me Off” at the time so he wasn’t a star yet.

So we got into the bus, he sat in front with his cousin so when we wanted to pay the conductor, he said, “no, he done pay already” I was feeling like a babe. “Hey! My boyfriend paid everybody’s bus fare.” And that time, bus was like N2.50k or N3 per person for about 14 people. But he told me recently that he didn’t eat that night because he paid for everyone.” awwwwwww

Soon Annie’s entertainment career became a lot more difficult as a result of being known as ’2Face’s girl’ and then they had their first breakup, came back, broke up again…

She was hurt when word got out that, in quick succession, 2Face had gotten two different women pregnant – Pero Adeniyi and Sumbo Ajala. At that point, the couple broke up.

When Pero and Sumbo yet again got pregnant for 2Face once again, that was when 2Face and Annie had their longest break-up which lasted almost a year and a half. According TO eye-witness reports, 2Face took Annie to a quiet section of the club, he knelt down and told her “I KNOW WE have had OUR ups and downs but it will be MY heart’s desire for YOU to marry ME” and then presented the dazzling ring and Annie began screaming “YES, YES, YES” after crying her eyes out!

Shortly after 2Face‘s concert when he brought out then-fiancee, Annie during his performance of“African Queen”, the two secretly legalized their union in a Lagos registry on Tuesday, May 1 2012.

…hmmn, their super expensive traditional wedding sha sha sha took place on Friday 8th March 2013, equipped with two big wedding parties before & after. The wedding shook akwa ibom…

And then the big white wedding took place on 3/23/2013 in DUBAI. ccurrently have 2 lovely kids together. 2face who just celebrated his 40th birthday took his wife annie as his date. can we imagine these two apart? That’s some love disaster that’s just unimaginable!

In this case, famous ‘ordinary’ girl meets ‘rich’ Prince (not necessarily handsome). They get engaged in 2009. All seems well and quiet. No attempted ‘husband-snatching’ from girl’s colleagues neither rumours of unfaithfulness among two. First rumoured wedding date fails and when the new dates come close two years later, the intrigues begin. A woman named Lovely from Canada shows up in the media alleging marriage to same Prince with two kids as fruit. And then the love-birds begin their first major challenge together in full glare of the public, majority who kept (and perhaps still keep) vigil on the internet. From denial, to partial acceptance, full admission, a file for annulment, purported divorce, counter divorce claims, demonstration threat by a women group, even last minute church withdrawal; the media provided almost daily updates of the royal wedding being planned.

Prince Odi is said to have presented a Divorce certificate to Christ Embassy, few days to August 27 – the wedding date. The church had earlier declined joining the new lovers based on wife Lovely’s petition and most especially, the supporting documents she
presented. But determined to marry his new bride, Odi ‘secures’ and ‘presents’ a divorce certificate to the church authorities. The day following, (ex) wife Lovely, who is resident in Canada, denies having signed or sighted any divorce paper and is said to be considering legal actions against her (ex) spouse and the church.

Hence, the legality and duration of Princess Mercy’s marriage is still under threat even after the ‘successful’ superlative wedding.

Other than the two Stretch Limos and Bentley used, the two horse-men who led the automobile convoy to the reception venue, and the remarkable presence of A-list showbiz stars, the royal wedding could have passed for any other regular wedding. The touted N30M budget wedding was lost in the 2-day ceremony. From location, to security, music at the reception, the bridesmaids’ dresses, organisation and timeliness, quality of other guests, the wedding scored low. Even the newly-weds remained ‘understandably’ tense until the marriage certificate was presented. Mercy could have been a lot more joyous on her big day had Odi done the right things at the right time. Hopefully the memories of Honeymoon and year(s) after will erase the scandalous memories…
