Atiku's University Displaces Americans In The Guinness Book Of Records



American University of Nigeria, AUN, Adamawa State is now the official holder of the Guinness World Records (GWR) for the most people crocheting simultaneously. The GWR Records Management Team made the announcement recently.

In a message to AUN, GWR said: "We are thrilled to inform you that your application for Most People Crocheting Simultaneously has been successful and you are now the Guinness World Records Title Holder!"

On April 24, 2015, a group of 485 people recorded 20 minutes of simultaneous crocheting, thereby beating a New York City team of 426 that won the title in 2010. The event was planned to coincide with the Earth Day 2015.

The needlework was carried out to sensitize residents of Yola about the hazards of non-biodegradable litter. The crocheters used "plarn", the yarn developed from used shopping bags, since every nylon bag is reusable and renewable
