Car Hits, Throws Man Off The Obalende Bridge In Lagos

This happened at Obalende Bridge yesterday. At about 4pm today, a fast moving Kia saloon car with plate number JJJ 537 DP crushed a mechanic, identified as Waidi to death and threw him off the bridge.

It was learnt that the victim’s body landed in a residential area under the bridge with broken head and legs.

Huge crowd had gathered on the Obalende bridge trying to catch a glimpse of the scene, while the police from the Lion Building Division and the officials of the ambulance section of the Lagos Island General Hospital took the corpse of the victim into a van to the mortuary.

According to an eyewitness, the tragic accident occurred when the victim alighted from a bus on top of Obalende bridge and dashed across the road without looking.

According to a motorist, Solomon Ikhide, “dropping picking up of passengers by bus drivers has been causing fatal accidents on the bridge daily.”
