Read What Nigerians In Diaspora Said About JAMB’s Computer Based Test

Some Nigerians in diaspora on Sunday, April 3, threw its weight behind the computer based test organized by Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB).

In a statement issued by the Nigerians in Diaspora Monitoring Group (NDMG), the group said the adoption of the CBT by JAMB has aligned Nigeria tertiary entrance examinations with global bets practice.

The publicity secretary of the NDMG, David Onmeje said the resistance showed by some individuals on the computer based test by JAMB should not diminish the total adoption of the system.

“All innovations have early adopters and persistent opponents but advancement always have to happen in the interest of mankind; even countries with the more advanced technologies still have citizens that kick against innovative concept and express preference for older systems but societies that are determined to progress do not allow objections to hold them back,”Onmeje said.

He also called on Nigerians to support the new system stating that JAMB’s registrar, Dibu Ojerinde should be commended rather than criticized over the challenges recorded by the exam body.

He also said the flaws recorded by JAMB in its CBT are not enough grounds for discontinuation of the system but should be treated as areas for possible improvement in future examination.

“We believe JAMB can leverage on its successful innovations in other aspects of tertiary entrance examination to convince Nigerians that CBT is the way to since the changes it had introduced in the past are now fully accepted despite the initial opposition to them.

“Online registration, unification of all entrance examinations and e-result and other innovations of JAMB are now very popular with the population even though they earlier faced similar resistance. But for us in Nigerians in Diaspora Monitoring Group, these are things we see in other climes regularly and we are proud that Nigeria too is getting up to speed with the application of technology to vital institutions,” he said.

Following the massive failure recorded in the 2016 JAMB examination, many have called for the resignations of JAMB’s registrar.
