Thierry Henry quits Arsenal coaching role after disagreement with Manager Arsene Wenger

Thierry Henry has quit Arsenal after a row with manager Arsene Wenger over his television punditry duties, according to The Sun.

The former striker was working as a youth coach at the club on a part-time basis, but is now set to depart that role after informing Wenger that he does not intend to leave his TV role. Henry has repeatedly criticised the Gunners as a pundit, but the report claims that senior sources are amazed that Wenger has taken the decision to get rid of Henry.

Wenger — who is a regular TV pundit for beIN Sports — saw his side finish ten points adrift of champions Leicester last season. Senior figures at the club are understood to be astonished that Wenger has made the move to jettison a man who is arguably Arsenal’s greatest-ever player. Some have even suggested that Wenger, who has a year left on his current deal, feels threatened by Henry, who has managerial ambitions.
