Rio Olympics: Brazil beats Germany to win first ever football Olympic gold


It was indeed a moment of joy for Brazil, as the host of Rio Olympics beat Germany 5-4 on penalty shootout to win their first ever men's Olympic football gold medal in Maracana

This is coming through after Brazil lost in finals in 1984, 1988 and 2012.

The pulsating encounter, which saw the Brazilians take the lead, courtesy of a well curled Neymar freekick 27 mins into the game. The German team leveled scores, nine minutes after the break through Max Meyers effort in the 59th minute.

The game ended 1-1 apiece, and had to stretch into extra time, which also ended in a stalemate. Finally a winner had to be decided via penalty shootout. Brazilian Goalkeeper "Weverton" saved Nil Petersen's spot kick, giving Neymar the opportunity to take the decisive kick, and he did in grand style, sending Timo Horn in goal for Germany the wrong way, and giving BRAZIL her first ever Gold medal in Olympics football history.
