Paul Pogba explains Manchester United move as he breaks world transfer record
The French international has revealed why he decided to re-sign for the Red Devils. Paul Pogba has returned Manchester United signing in a deal worth over £100m ($131m).
The 23-year-old, who left United for £1.5m in 2012, is returns for a fee that surpasses Gareth Bale’s £85m move to Real Madrid in 2013.
And Paul Pogba explained: “I am delighted to rejoin United. It has always been a club with a special place in my heart and I am really looking forward to working with José Mourinho.” He also said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Juventus and have some fantastic memories of a great club with players that I count as friends. But I feel the time is right to go back to Old Trafford.”
Pogba stressed, “I always enjoyed playing in front of the fans and can’t wait to make my contribution to the team. This is the right club for me to achieve everything I hope to in the game.”
In his first televised interview with Manchester’s official TV channel, MUTV, he noted,
“I think it’s destiny, I would say it’s destiny. First my mum told me I would come back here and I told her, ‘You never know, you’ll see.’ For myself as well it’s a big challenge too, just to come back to where I came from, where I grew up, where I started.”
The 23-year-old added: “I didn’t finish what I started here so I think I came here to finish it.” Pogba has been with Juventus for four seasons (from 2012), making 124 appearances and scoring 28 goals.
