Boko Haram kills 8, hoists flag in Borno villages

Boko Haram has over-run some villages in Borno State and hoisted its flag in at least three of such conquered territories, a security source has disclosed.

The terrorists reportedly slaughtered at least eight persons, including a village elder during the attack, a security source and residents told the BBC on Tuesday.

The villages – Kubirivour, Boftari and Kuburmbalah – are near Chibok town, from where Boko Haram insurgents abducted more than 200 schoolgirls in 2014.

Other sources claim Boko Haram were still in control of Malam Fatori town, on the Nigeria-Niger border.

Last Wednesday, the Nigerian Army said troops of Operation Lafiya Dole and Multinational Joint Task Force captured the town after a fierce battle that was closely covered by air operations.

However, the sources claim that Boko Haram fighters reinforced their ranks and regained control of the town.

The military authorities are yet to react to the claim of Boko Haram reclaiming territories.
