FG reacts to planned ASUU nationwide strike

Dr. Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment, has said government is not aware of the grounds for the planned strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.

A statement by the ministry on Friday, the 2nd day of September, 2016 said ASUU had not officially communicated such decision.

The statement reads: “When we do so, we shall look into the matter, the ground of agitation by ASUU, this will include of course dialoguing with both parties; we are conciliators and be rest assured we are working relentlessly to ensure industrial harmony.”

ASUU had earlier in the week threatened to embark on a nationwide strike to force the implementation of its 2009 agreement with the Federal Government.
