MTV EMA 2016: Wizkid's "Best African Act" award withdrawn, given to Tanzanian singer, Alikiba

Nobody saw this coming but it is indeed an indelible mistake by the MTV Europe Music Award organizers. Wizkid who was announced the winner of "Best African Act" has been asked to forfeit the award to Tanzanian singer Alikiba after it was observed that there was a mistake in compiling the votes.
In an official statement released, the MTV EMA, apologized for the confusion caused also recognizing the achievements of both artists .

An MTV spokesperson commented, "Both Wizkid and Alikiba are great artists and deserving winners at the MTV EMAS and we congratulate them wholeheartedly on their achievements.

The issue of Alikiba being the rightful winner was supported by the Tanzanian fans who took to social media to make their opinions known as soon as Wizkid was announced the winner.

The award that was subject to public voters became a subject of discuss after votes showed Alikiba was leading but the organisers gave Wizkid the award during the ceremony held in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

Wizkid has since deleted all posts on social media regarding him as winner of the award.
