Inter Milan and AC Milan battle over Mikel Obi

Super Eagles midfielder Mikel Obi is at the centre of a bidding war between two Serie A giants Inter Milan and AC Milan, according to reports.

Inter have been joined by city neighbours AC Milan in the race to sign the out-of-favour Chelsea star, [football] direct news claims.

The Nigerian midfielder holds a contract with the English side until 2017 but reports of a summer exit have loomed large after he dropped down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho.
Mikel joined Chelsea in 2006 and has played an important part in the club’s success over the years, but a planned summer overhaul is likely to see Mikel and others move out of Stamford Bridge.

[FDN] understand that AC Milan are keen to add the Nigerian midfielder in a double pivot alongside another former Blue – Michael Essien.

However, they will face competition from city rivals Inter Milan who are also keen.
