Asisat Oshoala Scores On Her Debut For Arsenal

Nigeria international striker Asisat Oshoala scored on her debut for Arsenal Ladies in a 3-1 victory against Reading FC Women on Wednesday night at Meadow Park.

The Super Falcons star, who last week completed the dream switch to London from Liverpool, was in the starting XI against Reading in her second season in the English Women’s Super League.

Dutch star Dominique Jansse put the Gunners ahead in the 34th minute with the woodwork denying Oshoala of her debut goal minutes before the break.

At the restart, the 21-year-old former Rivers Angels striker dashed into the box and rounded the visitors’ goalkeeper before slotting her first goal into an empty net to double the Gunners’ lead.

But Boho Sayo pulled one back for Reading in the 58th minute before Danielle Carter extended the Arsenal’s lead in the 70th minute and effectively secured all three points for the Gunners.

It was a magnificent debut for Oshoala and a great victory for Pedro Martinez Losa’s side as they now sit atop the WSL with three points and two goals.
