Borno State government donates N10m to the family of late Lt. Col. Abu Ali killed by Boko Haram

  

The Government of Borno State has donated N10 million to the family of the late Lt. Col. Abu Ali, who died while fighting the Boko Haram terrorists in the state on Nov. 4.

The donation was made on Saturday by Governor Kashim Shettima when he visited the widow of the deceased in Kaduna. This was revealed by the Special Adviser to Shettima on Communication and Strategy, Malam Isa Gusau in a statement in Maiduguri.

The statement revealed that the Borno State Governor presented the cheque to the widow of the slain soldier, Samira.

Ali who was an outstanding soldier who until his death led one of the army’s fiercest-ever battles with Boko Haram, in February 2015, culminating in the recapture of Baga town in Borno state.

The late Ali was killed in Malam-fatori, headquarters of Abadam local government area of Borno on Nov. 4 by Boko Haram terrorists during an ambush.

Speaking after the presentation, the Governor described the death of Ali as a great loss and said the late officer was a hero who sacrificed his life for peace to reign not only in Borno but in the entire North East and the country at large.

The Governor also interacted with the mother of the late officer and his children while praying for the repose of his soul.
